Modern’s standard insurance coverage includes Released Valuation Coverage, provided at no additional cost to our customers. This is the industry standard liability coverage required at the federal level by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Under Released Valuation, Modern assumes liability for no more than $0.60 per pound, per article.

Federal Claim Process Timelines:

• 30 days to acknowledge receipt of claim, once completed form has been submitted
• 120 days to investigate and provide a disposition
• 60 day extension if needed for any reason

Exclusions – NOT Covered Under Released Valuation:

• Cosmetic damage to walls, flooring, or ceilings
• Furniture composed of particle board or pressed board
• Lampshades, pictures, artwork, mirrors, glass, marble, vases, statues
• Items with prior damage or repaired damage
• Items with loose veneers
• Items that separate due to glue, staples, nails, screws
• Items that separate due to faulty or worn fasteners
• Unboxed items
• Artificial or live plants
• Appliances or electronics
• Musical instruments, including pianos
• Items not packed by Modern
• Sets: Only the specific damaged item is evaluated—not the entire set
